Milo "food court" 1987
I worked as the photo finish camera operator on Alberta's rural horse race circuit between1986 and 1990. The summer job allowed me to document the atmosphere and activities when horse racing arrived for the weekend in small towns. It was as if carnival came to town. Horsemen and women, the betting trailer, jockeys, and awful hamburgers called track macs took over. Milo, Trochu, Millarville, Medicine Hat, High River, and Grande Prairie had scheduled race cards ranging over 2 days or 2 weeks.
